What Are You Doing With Your Life?

Yes, you.

What are you doing with your life?

Are you living it or are you merely living in it?

Are you living or merely existing?

Recently, I lost a very good friend; someone who always had my back. He just turned 40 and was just beginning to live his life. And in an instance, he was gone. A heart attack followed by a stroke that left his brain dead.

On a Saturday night, I went with My Small Baby to see him; he was still in critical condition but was breathing on his own. We went for dinner and not an hour into it, we are saying our final goodbyes.

Tragic to say the least but it's a true story.

I've been meaning to post about his death but somehow, the words always failed me. I didn't know what to write; writing another 'RIP' type of posts just doesn't cut it, y'know? He was more than a friend and one of my biggest supporters and boosters, even if I'm on the opposite side of the truth.

But I wanted to write about him. And instead of writing about his death, I want to ask y'all instead about your respective lives.

So yeah, what are you doing with your life?

Life is so very fragile. And we are all vulnerable. We will all, at some point in our lives, fall. We will all fall.

And it's best that we must carry this in our hearts - that what we have is special. That it could be taken from us, and when it's taken from us, we will be tested; we will be tested to our very soul, to our very core.

It is these times, and these pains that'd allow us to look inside ourselves and ask what are we doing with our lives?

RIP, Jafs.

إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ
