Mental Slavery Is Still Rampant!

In the eyes of God, we are all equal.

In the eyes of the world, there is no such thing as equality.

Sad but true.

Do you believe in Equality?

Oh, don’t y’all worry, this entry is nothing religious in nature. I just felt like starting it with the blatant differnce between how God sees the world and how the world sees itself and the people that inhabit it.

Anyways, I don’t know whether to laugh or feel sorry for those who don’t know the difference between a foreign worker and an expatriate.

I am not talking about the Bangladeshi workers or Filipinas who work as maids or Indonesians who work in the construction industry; no I am not referring to them. I am referring to those who are not as conspicuous as the aforementioned type of workers, you know, those who work in MNC’s. And yes, especially the white peeps.

Not all white dudes are expats. In fact, majority of them are merely foreign workers

In most of the Asian countries I know, besides Singapore, there is a tendency to automatically assume that just because one is white and he works for an MNC, he is automatically an expat. This is so totally wrong and far from the truth.

I’ve been privileged enough to have worked for some of the biggest MNC’s known to mankind – CP, Nestle, Dell, etc – and I can assure you, not every foreigner who works in such companies are expatriates.

Actually, anyone who has worked for an MNC would be able to pretty easily to distinguish a foreign worker from an expat. An expat usually are directors who have the full expat package – car with a driver, housing (usually bungalows), payment for their kids to go to International Schools, etc. And if it’s a single expat, the same thing very much applies.

On the other hand, the foreigners who come here and work as managers and/or senior managers are not usually expats but merely foreign workers. Most of the times, they’re slightly paid more compared to the locals who are in the same position but only because of their housing.

The only difference between these South Asians and Westerners? The latter works in an office and get paid more but both are not expats

And there are locals, believe it or not, who earn more than these foreigners. Surprised? I’m not because I know a lot of us who earn way more than these white dudes but you know the sad part is that, despite being more senior and earn more, locals tend to think that just because they are foreigners, it’s automatically assumed that they occupy a higher position and earn more.

Me? I couldn’t care less, really. I know who I am, what I am and putting things into perspective, know how much I make compared to them. So yeah, I don’t give a fuck. Because I know.

Now, let’s take the same scenario out to the western world. Over there, even if you are a real expat, but because you’re Asian, the locals would assume that you’re there on blue-collar jobs! They could never ever, not in their lives, think that their white folks could report to an Asian. No matter what the truth is, Asians will always get 2nd class treatment if and when compared to a local white dude.

Ridiculous, no?

The colonialism days are over! Why can't majority of the Asian see that?

But that is how the world operates. And the biggest culprits really are the Asians. They just haven’t mentally emancipated themselves from colonial past; that even after half a century later, when they see a white man, they still a master! Look at China, the government is trying to show the world that they are no pushovers and yet, the local populace are still enslaved by the white colonialism mentality.

Sad but true.

Again, there are exceptions. What I wrote above is the general norm as I know them to be but there are exceptions, of course.

Again, I’m just saying.
