'Love The Way You Lie'

Eminem is back!

Seriously, his Recovery album is superb! The Eminem that true hip-hop fans fell in-love with is back. But if you're expecting club-type hip-hop music, then this album is not for you.

But if you know hip-hop and you judge an album based on lyrical contents and rhyme prowess, then it's compulsory for you to have a listen. The album is heartfelt, pure and very raw, real emotions.

I’ve shared with y’all the first single off the Recovery album but one of the songs that will dominate the chart is ‘Love The Way You Lie’ featuring Rihanna. It’s about as close as Eminem has ever gotten to a love song in his career, and ironically, it's actually a song about an abusive relationship.

"Just gonna stand there and watch me burn
But that's alright because I like the way it hurts
Just gonna stand there and hear me cry
But that's alright because I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie, I love the way you lie "

I haven’t really listened to all the tracks but besides ‘Love The Way You Lie’, another track that stood out for me is ‘Going Through Changes’.

Sampling Ozzy Osbourne’s unforgettable vocals from Black Sabbath’s 'Changes,' it tells the story of a man examining his recent pitfalls and erratic behavior. And whenever a track includes his daughter Haillie, you know it's gonna be emotionally powerful. And I also absolutely love the end verses to this track:

Hey, wish there was a better way, for me to say it
But I swear on everything, I'd do anything for her on anyday.
There are just too many things, to explain, when it rains,
Guess it pours, yes it does, wish there wasn't any pain.
But I can't pretend there ain't, I ain't placin' any blame
I ain't pointin' fingers, heaven knows I've never been a saint.
I know it just feels like we just pissed away our history
But just today, I looked at your picture, almost hate to say
I miss you self consciously, wish it didn't end this way
But I just had to get away, don't know why,
I don't know what else to say, I guess I'm...

You know what's weird? It's as if Eminem knew what was on my mind and took the words out of my mouth with some of the tracks in this album! He sort of spit the thoughts that I could not say out loud, yknow?

Just to cite an example: 'Love The Way You Lie' reminded of the entry I wrote last month. And if you were to listen to the album, there are a lot of rhymes in there that basically sum up my thoughts and the way I've been living my life the past few months.

And that is why I really connected with this album. He went through his demons and I'm going through mine but like him, I know mine would end on a positive note too.

Wow! What an album!
