Do Americans Only Care For Their Lot?

Americans have always been known to have the 'I Am King' mentality. They think that they are the best at everything and that is the main reason why they're also the biggest sour losers around. I'm not saying the majority but more than enough to be perceived as such.

The Dutch Douche

One of the most talked about stories here right now is the arrest of Joran van der Sloot in Chile for the murder of Stephany Tatiana Flores Ramirez, the Peruana who was found dead with a broken neck in a hotel room under Van der Sloot’s name.

I find it horrible and discomforting and disrespectful how the mainstream media is covering the arrest and the confession. I mean, don't get me wrong, what happened to Natalee Holloway was as horrible but so much of the U.S. media’s coverage shows how much more valuable the life of an attractive white young woman is compared to a Latin American woman in a Latin American country.

I dare say, 99% of the coverage is how the tragedy in Peru could be the breakthrough in Natalee’s case. How unfair is that? It's understandable that the media is going mad with the latest info but I think it's only because, for the last 5 years, none of them of them were able to pin down the Dutch dude, despite the evidences that came about, during and after Natalee’s disappearance.

Natalee Holloway

If I remember correctly, My Small Baby and I watched an E show on Unsolved Murders a while back and her case ranked in the top 3 or something like that.

Look, I abhor violence against all women, regardless of what language they speak or what country they come from. But I hope that, in the media’s effort to find new scoops and angles to this story, they would recognize that Stephany and her grieving family deserve justice just as much as the Holloway family does, and more importantly, that the loss of Stephany’s life is much more than just a means to an end.

RIP Stephany.
