Michael Jordan: Hall Of Famer

On the day when the whole of the United States are remembering the atrocities of 9/11, there were some cheers to the day when the Basketball Hall of Fame inducted a few of the basketball greats into their illustrious list.

The most celebrated amongst this year’s recipient is none other than His Royal Airness, Michael Jordan.

In an emotional speech topped with typical-MJ swagger, he talked about his childhood, his sources of motivations, his college years at UNC and his days in the NBA where, as we all know it by now, he completely dominated his opponents, leading the Chicago Bulls to 6 championships.

But the highlights of his acceptance speech, to me, are: i. when he thanked his Bulls’ team mates, especially Scottie Pippen and ii. When he mentioned the people who motivated him and challenged him to become the greatest baller of all time.

It was also nice to see his illustrious former team mates Pippen, Kukoc, Rodman, Steve Kerr, Ron Harper, Charles Oakley; other NBA greats such as Sir Charles, Isiah, George Gervin and of course the legendary Coach Smith, in attendance.

One particular line from the induction sticks out for me. It reads: “Don’t be in a rush to find the next Michael Jordan, there’s not going to be another Michael Jordan.”

That sums it up nicely, don’t you think?
