I'm Not Such A Fan Afterall :(

So, the greatest soccer team in the world ever and my absolute favorite, the Manchester United Red Devils are in town to play a couple of games against the Malaysian national team and I missed both matches!

Sad no?

Here I am, known to many as a Red Devils die-hard and yet I am giving their games a miss when they are in my own backyard. WTF right? Everyone I know who are true Man United fans either went to at least one match or both and I can’t even go.

Sigh…

The Red Devils!

The first match was last Saturday but it was also my anniversary with My Small Baby and as much as I love the Red Devils, I love My Small Baby way more; missing the match that day was a no-brainer. We were ready to go, tickets in hand and all, but unfortunately the timing was not right. My Small Baby was flying off to South Africa and Argentina that same night and knowing the traffic whenever there’s such match, I didn’t want to take the risk of her missing her flight.

Again, it was a no-brainer and in retrospect, it was not only the right decision but it also allowed me to spend the much needed quality time with My Small Baby and every minute of it is a million times better than any Man United match.

I wonder how many of them are real fans

I could have gone to the second match on yesterday but unfortunately, work commitments didn’t allow me. I have lots of things on my plate right now and taking off without an ample notice would put the whole thing I have been working on for the last month in disarray. A man’s gotta do what he’s gotta do.

The Sea of Red

So yeah, the Red Devils are in town and I couldn’t see them live. But it’s all good though because a true fan is not defined by his presence in matches but by being there for the team year in, year out. Of course, it would have been great if I managed to catch the new-look team – with Michael Owen – play live but I know, one day down the road, I will get my chance again. And this time, I ain’t letting it slip by me just like that.

Michael Owen scored 2 goals in his first 2 games in a United jersey

Despite missing the games, I got something out of Man United’s visit to Malaysia and it’s something that is, to me, more meaningful and far better than watching the game; I got Bryan Robson’s autograph, courtesy of a good friend of mine. Point, my main, I can’t thank you enough!

The reason why I supported Man United in the first place is on the right most

This is way better than watching both games!

Glory, Glory Man United!
