Thaipusam is all about colors!

Going to work this morning was cazy! It took me almost 2 hours to get to the office due to the Thaipusam preparation that was ongoing; and Thaipusam is celebrated in a grand scale all over the island, from what I hear.

I've never really paid too much attention to this particular celebration in the past. To me, Thaipusam is a day when I don't have to work and welcomed it with a sigh of relief as it meant a day to be able to rest from the daily rigors of everyday work.

As I went through the torture this morning, the first thing that struck and amazed me was the colorfulness of the whole Thaipusam celebration. Having lived in the sub-continent when I was a teenager – my dad was the posted in Pakistan when I was 15 – I was somewhat familiar with the colorfulness of the people in that region.

But eversince I came back to Malaysia, I never actually experienced the same colorfulness of the people here until this morning. The ‘kuil’ was just so brightly decorated in full color, giving it a carnival-like atmosphere, only this one was not made of lights.

And tomorrow, for the first time in my life, I'm gonna go and watch the procession that is Thaipusam and I will take pics to post here...
