First day on a new job...

How do you cope?

For most people, their first day in a new job tend to always bring mixed reactions; it can either be excitement and anxiety, excitement and stress (because of the excitement), excitement and more excitement, etc.

Personally, it had always been the combination of excitement and stress. You see, even if I have a normal sleeping pattern, the night before I start a new job always stresses me to a point where I can't have a good night sleep.

More often than not, it is because of the excitement that I get stressed. What if I wake up late? Have I prepared what I'm wearing tomorrow? And on and on and on...

Anyways, I am now OFFICIALLY with Nestle, having signed my contract this afternoon and rushed to do a medical afterwards. *sigh of relief* But instead of stressing about my first day tomorrow (hey, they wanted me to start immediately, that's how MUCH they wanted me hehehe), I'm kinda relaxed because my first day will be spent sitting in a car on the way to Cameron Highlands!

Yup, you read it right. I am going to Cameron Highlands on my first day. What the fuck for, you may ask.

Well, as it turned out, my Business Unit is having its annual Business Convention from the 18th till the 21st of this month. So, in reality, my first few days as Group Brand Manager of the Chocolate and Confectionary Business Unit will be spent during the convention :)

Not bad, huh?

Am I excited of going to Cameron Highlands? Fuck no!

I have traveled all over the world and even all 0ver the country but I have never had the inkling to visit that place. It's just not me to go to place where the main attraction is its tea farm, so I was told. Dude, what the hell am I gonna go to a tea farm for? I don't even drink tea! I am a coffee man through and through and really, the idea of a team farm doesn't appeal to me AT ALL.

But hey, I'm going to there to work so it's all good. Plus we'll be staying at Equatorial Hotel which I think is not that bad. Not that I know the other hotels there or how Equatorial is like but my Small Baby said it’s the best one they have there. So, there it is… My Small Baby has spoken and she very well knows how particular I am with hotels :)

Well, I guess it’s not a bad start to my career in Nestle; I'd rather be 'holidaying' than stressing myself on my first day :)

Hi.
Got through you through Point's blog. From your postings, i know you'r gonna be a kick-ass marketing man for Nestle. Passionate, opinionated, most importantly, in-touch with wats out there. Unlike most of the marketing (wo)men I know.
Cheers.

bigcityb, thanks :)

I know I can be a real bastard at times, just can't fathom why Malaysians work ethics are such a bitch.

I'm sure you know what I mean considering you're in the advertising industry. I was Burnetter myself once upon a time...

Anyways, thanks once again...
